Vat impact of returned imported goods to non EU

Imported goods from a non EU country and paid vat and duty to HMRC. Now returning, Vat impact?

Didn't find your answer?

We have purchased goods from a non EU country and paid appropriate duty and vat to HMRC via deferrment account. Vat has been claimed on vat return. Goods are now being returned to non EU supplier and am unsure what impact on the next vat return there should be? We know how to manage the duty element already, but not sure re Vat.

Can anyone help?

It's a regular non-EU despatch - so zero-rated as long as you comply with the normal conditions for zero-rating. The fact that it's a return to the supplier is just causing confusion.
