VAT on record books

VAT on record books

My client is launching a new book. The book contains lots of illustrations advise/tips for new parents as well as spaces where you can put photos and write own text.

My questions is - does this kind of book can be classified under normal book umbrella with 0% VAT or does the client need to charge normal 20% VAT?

Many thanks for your comments.

The answer is...

maybe.

If you look at the HMRC notice on printed matter then you should see somewhere a section on printed matter with areas for completion and therein they tell you that if no more than 25% of the book is available for completion then it is zero rated, if it's more than that then it's standard rated.
