vat on advertising

Local sports and social unincorporated association is holding a festival to raise funds for its own benefit. Local businesses have been contacted to ask if they wish for their logo to be placed on the festival brochure and this costs approx £50. Should there be vat on the fee? Club runs sports activities plus has a social element where members can come together in the club house and alcohol is sold (i/e members bar). Thanks,

If the entity's registered, yes.

If not, no.

Key bit of information missing there.

Thank you.
Entity is vat regd.
Given that it is voluntary org and profits are applied for furtherance of sporting objects is it worth exploring ESC C4 sch 9 vat act 1994? Note, the event lasts a weekend and consists of several separate activities. It is one event but the event itself is a weekend of activities.

Doubt it but - specifically - on what provision will you be relying ?

These adverts are payments for advertising, not participation in sport. They may, of course, help others to participate in sport.
