VAT on translations from EU

VAT on translations from EU

Didn't find your answer?

Before I look like an idiot with my supplier: if I have asked for translation work to be done (on an instruction manual) by a company in Germany, should I expect to be charged VAT.

All my day to day dealings with foreign vat normally relate to goods, rather than services. I get that the work is done in Germany, so I kind of feel it is chargeable.

Thanks,

Are you VAT registered? Have you given the supplier your VAT no?
I'd expect (with no research done!) to be a reverse charge transaction, so you would show in and out on your return

I vote for VAT reverse charge once you have provided them with your VAT number.

Thanks, yes, my initial thoughts were to provide VAT number to get VAT removed.
