VAT on Travel Agents

VAT on Travel Agents

Hi guys, quick question.

As Travel agents do not charge VAT to thier customers, do they have to register for VAT if their turnover exceeds the Threshold of £68k?

In that case if they register for VAT they will be just claiming the input VAT. Is it accepted by the revenue?

Assuming that the supply is zero rated rather than exempt from VAT, then yes, you will have to register.

VAT for travel agents can be a bit complicated, depending on what you sell and how you sell it - see VAT Notice 709/6 for more details.
