VAT query

Invoice is on director's name but the VAN solely use for business purpose

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all, I have recently started my courier services business and purchased a VAN for the delivery of parcels. The VAN is on my name and i am the director of the company and payment is also made from my bank account. As the business was newly set up so it was not easy to get VAN financed on business name becuase of no credit history so i had to purchase on my name.

My question is, Can I claim the VAT as the invoice is on my name and being the director? Also please note that there is no personal use of VAN.

Thanks all in advance

Anon, this is the 23rd time you have asked this question this year. You didn't need to be Anon the last 22 times either. Just to warn you, some people here don't like Anon.

But a quick fact check:

Wow, Mr Anonymous you are busier than I thought today.

Just a few pieces of advice.
Dont break the rules of the site. This is a forum for Accountants to talk to other Accountants, clearly you missed all of that when you joined, including not adding details of your accountancy practice etc. But you also seem to have missed the rule about anon posting, when you took the decision to post without your name, as follows:-
Please note that posting as an anonymous user is reserved for sensitive content that you need help with but don't want people to know who you are.

However, it will also mean that other users will not be able to get in touch with you or see your history on the site and therefor might not be as willing to provide you with a reply.

Any abuse of the ability to publish anonymously will not be tolerated and offending users will be banned from AccountingWEB.

A few days ago most of the great and good on here decided not to respond to anon posters. So you will be missing out on some fabulous technical advice from those well esteemed Accountants.

That said, I do wonder why it is that you deliver parcels and get paid for it yet you expect to get Accountancy and Tax advice without having to pay for it?

I am assuming you daftly did not take the advice of an Accountant before setting up as a Limited Company or before you registered for VAT. Albeit very late, now is the time to go and get that professional on board, you already really do need it.

No personal use. Really.
