VT Accounts and TaxCalc

Didn't find your answer?

Lots of practices seem to be using VT Accounts along with TaxCalc.

What are the reasons for not using the TaxCalc Accounts production software rather than VT Accounts?

Probably because TaxCalc Accounts Production is a late arrival and many practices were already using VT and saw no incentive to change.

Much more clunky, much less flexible & more expensive

Speed is more important than integration when for us its a case of copying over a couple of figures between systems, which VT computes in any case so its easy to double check you have not missed anything.

From my point of view, the benefit of integrating with VT Transaction+ bookkeeping software with VT accounts is greater than the benefit of integrating accounts with the tax return software. Cannot comment on Taxcalc's accounts software.

Yes I was well aware of that, but it will still be able to do what it does now.

We're in this bracket. A few reasons:
- when Taxcalc released their accounts bit, we were used and liked VT.
- I think it was marginally more expensive.
- Anticipate that within a year or two we'll be doing accounts via FreeAgent anyway.

So, didn't seem much reason to move, especially given we'd likely be moving again a year or so later.
