VT accounts production TB export to other?

VT accounts production TB export to other software?

Didn't find your answer?

Good Morning

I have used VT since 2009 and its terrific but I would prefer a better finished set of accounts for the frs 102 companies I do.  I was using taxfiler which was totally brilliant.  I exported the TB from VT and pasted straight into Taxfiler.  Yes, a few glitches but generally Taxfiler recognised eqach item.  Sadly that came to an end when Iris stepped in and ruined Taxfiler

I use Taxcalc for tax etc and have just tried the accounts production module again and probably because I`m thick I just get the mapping to work.

Does anyone know an accounts production software module that will accept csv. from VT software?  That way I can continue to use VT for everything and just export for the 102`s.   I only really need it for around 50 customers but as mentioned I think the VT layout is a little basic.  Perfect for the 105`s as they are not paying much

Hope that makes sense and I`ll draw breath now as the keyboard warriors go to work and tear each sentence apart!

Many thanks

Roy

Can you create your own house style template within VT?

VT will check if it meets the ixbrl requirements.

Which, by the way, were amended from 31 March 2024.
Has Elements reflected the change?

I would have thought your own VT template would have been the ideal solution, if feasible.

If you try using www.lime-books.co.uk for producing up to trial balance it will export a trial balance in Taxcalc format for direct import into taxcalc

I find the mapping in Taxcalc straightforward so not sure why you can't get it to work. Taxcalc support are excellent - maybe worth reaching out to them. They'll have probably come across this before if it's a common issue.

I went to the trouble of going to accountex, specifically to discuss this. I spoke to a young lady and explained that I had tried before, yet with taxfiler it was incredibly simple. Instead of taking the query as intended I was given the usual 14 days trial. Do try your self to export a TB from VT and map it into Taxcalc. It doesn`t work

I`ll look at BTC as I know they were always connected with VT right from the early days

All I want is a much better looking set of accounts. VT is perfect, particuarly as a working sheet but for customers with turnover exceeding £1 million its not quite as smart as it could be

P.S I was happy until IRIS destroyed Taxfiler

I was also a Taxfiler user prior to migrating to Iris when Taxfiler was discontinued. I'm sure that I have since copied and pasted TB's from VT into Iris without any problems.
(I did look at Taxcalc as an alternative at the time of the move from Taxfiler but with the Iris offering being pretty much the same as Taxfiler, I opted for Iris).

I must admit that when I looked at IRIS elements I hadn`t realised it was similar. With Taxfiler I would simply export the TB from VT then copy to clipboard...paste into Taxfiler and most times it recognised it. Gave beautiful accounts to present and really nice tax reports

I`ll have another look

cheers

Hi Roy

Yes, it's definitely worth a look. The Iris offering for Taxfiler users is almost identical to Taxfiler (with a slightly different interface of course).
The migration was easy. I even had telephone support to assist with this. In comparison, Taxcalc appeared to be a completely different system to have to learn.

TaxCalc is able to import a CSV file from VT, you just need to make a small modification to the file first. We have been doing it for over 20 years.

TaxCalc support will help you.

Or try this:
You have to delete column B (as it's blank)
Then press ‘ctrl’ F
Click on replace
Put a : (colon) in the ‘Find what’ box
Click on ‘Replace All’
Then save the file

It sounds like a lot, but it does become second nature after a time.

I have been with taxcalc since 2009 and its good to see them grow. I did go to lengths to not just be dished out another trial and "Get on with it" but that's the response I got. The accounts production specialist that I spoke to was supposed to come to me with some help in mapping, So, I`ll look elsewhere now

I use VT+ to get to trial balance then import the trial balance to BTC for preparation of the final accounts and tax returns. It's simple and easy to do.

Yes, I plan to look at BTC. I rather like some of the layouts as well. Particularly the AML which seems to be integrated rather than a separate module

Not sure if you're aware that BTC has been acquired by the Bright Group recently.
