Waste Disposal cost of sale or admin cost?

Waste Disposal cost of sale or admin cost?

Didn't find your answer?

Grounds maintenance company pays to dispose of green waste. Any suggestions as to how best categorise the expense? Doesn't seem like a cost of sales as nothing is being produced, nor a sundry expense as total annual payment is about £ 1,000 a year.

format 1 v format 2

Perhaps I should make the switch. The grass being "greener on the other side".

Many thanks.

Cost of sale

You say nothing is being produced. It sounds like the waste is being produced as a result of the grounds maintenance activity. No grounds maintenance activity, no waste to dispose of.

As a general rule, if a cost solely arises as a direct result of sales activity, it's a cost of sale.

Cost of sale

Yes, that seems logical enough, thanks.
