"We'd like to hear from you"

"Take our survey to help us improve."

Didn't find your answer?

Have you taken the survey, yet?

If so, what did you tell accountingweb? If you didn't, why not?

Theirs: no I haven't, CBA.
Yours: yes I have, I want to be in your prize draw.

I used to complete CCH surveys. I gave the same constructive feedback time after time. I helpfully pointed out that other service providers included one feature in particular. I explained why I thought that feature very important (for tax work).

CCH never added the feature.

But croner-i has... I bet that wasn't the ending you were expecting:-) I'm naive, but not so naive as to think.that was a result of my oft-repeated feedback. But it's nice to think it might be - even nicer to think that enough other people thought what I thought and together we made a difference.

I'm going to do a little survey of my own in response. No prizes, other than I answer your question. Who here used to give feedback to CCH?

Not me. I gave some to Taxfiler last year, pointing out that there was no obligation to disclose the Corporation Tax liability separately and to do so would be giving an indication - albeit imperfect - of the company's profits. I was slightly surprised that they agreed and the disclosure disappeared within a few days.

I did it but had the same problem. When asked if you want to attend a conference and you select No, then you have to complete the next section on topics regardless.

There were no options for feedback on the site, it wasn’t about that.

Applying some of my CCH thinking, if you get the same feedback more than once, and maybe especially when thats from more than one person, then stop to wonder if there's anything in it.

Several people recently have called you the Aweb troll. Stop to ask: why?

Could be your replies are spot on and hit a nerve. (The right nerve.)

That's what I tend to think anyway (although, I'll be honest, I'm not sure I always get your real meaning).

@andy.partridge (OP). Maybe the feature I would sometimes add to you is: one more sentence. I'd happily give you one of mine. I have too many. I'm starting to wonder whether my real dad is called Basil.

I don't think you are RESOLUTE enough for that to be true.

Update your photo- it has been the same one for years, you must have changed a little in all these years-unless, of course, you have sold your soul to the Devil in exchange for perpetual middle age-if you have give us the heads up.

Introduce a be nice to posters day, one day of the year you bite your lip and do not say anything sharp re their idiocy- maybe Christmas Day each year could be selected.

I do not want to hog things here so will restrict suggestions to above, but no doubt plenty of others will he flocking here to add their words of wisdom.

Yeah you've said that already. We all make our exits and entrances and one Aweb contributor in his (or her, or other) time plays many parts.

What you forget is those parts come from within. I think you're faking how fake fake you is. Or maybe how real real you is.

An interesting thought. I'd wager that many of the "fake" persona on AWeb are more real than the "real" persona the contributor has in the real world.

That's not just restricted to AWeb, but anyone on the internet who can hide behind he veil of anonymity. Out in the real world we are constricted by social convention and the threat of repercussions for our words and actions. This threat is much less as an anonymous poster on the internet which gives us all freedom to be ourselves more, even though we probably pretend it's just a "persona".

andy.partidge is very real.

It's Aweb's great weakness (compared with genuinely professional fora) – but also its strength. It (also) enables conversations to develop here that transcend technical issues and traverse threads.

Saying which… some feedback/a suggestion for Sift: set up an automated response to Anonymous OPs that repeats the risk warning directed at Anonymous OPs. It's daft that AA has to do this manually. And he gets undeserved flak for repeatedly undertaking that good deed.

I don’t remember as did it last week, I think you just had to put your email address in for winning the vouchers.

I was going to attend the Receiptbank webinar but you had to give permission for them to contact you and so I didn’t sign up, it put me off as I get enough emails.

Didn’t get the email (or more likely Outlook’s Clutter feature triaged it for me).

One thing that does bug me on the site tho ... is that one doesn’t get notified if a post is replied to, only if it is thanked. How many potential conversations have not happened because those involved didn’t realise?

I started it but like others abandoned it because you have to answer all the questions before it would move on. The questions were a survey on my business and therefore I couldn't see how they would help improve accounting web other than marketing. Perhaps the questions about improving the site came further on than I went does anyone know?
