Once upon a time a tax authority decided to make everyones lives as complicated as possible. Decided it would be a good idea to live in Utopia with regard to tax. They said if everyone put everything into a computer no one would habe to do anything ever again. You could take picture and at the press of a button everything was done as if by magic ! All the people this affected were upset and told the authority it wouldnt work. The authority was ALL powerful and knew best so they ignored everyone. A portal was devised that no one understand and the new rules were told to the people a month before all this happened. The authority knew that it was flawed so they didnt answer the queries and told the people that it was for their own good. The people were so upset that they found an easy way to build a bridge to get round the new Utopia dream , the way round the rules meant that the system the authority wanted to use could never work and that meant that millions of pounds were lost that taxpayers had given in good faith. A painter and decorater or a chip shop owner was told to buy an expensive computer programme that they could not understand or use and they should give up all their current record keeping midway through a year and completly mess up perfectly good records . The people who looked after the tax payers said that the system was flawed as did a government group of Lords who were told they were wrong ( too old I guess ) . So the Authority ignored everyone featherd the nest of the Software providors and actually allowed them to actively encourage a widening in the tax gap by encouraging people to take pictures and claim everything even though they knew that they could never check it . BEST FAIRY STORY EVER .

Sanctimonious drivel. Put it in a blog and stop cluttering up the forum which is for questions. Few enough of them without having to wade through carp like this.
I'm not against MTD per se. I just think it's coming too quickly over far too short a timescale.
Even HMRC can't keep up with sending their letters out (already 5 months behind the September date they set for themselves).
I can't - where was it?
I think you mean ‘I can’t see the paragraph break - where was it?’.
There wasn’t - the whole question was just one extra extra long paragraph.
I rather enjoyed it.
But then I don't get uptight about people posting anonymously either which I realise makes me a bad person.
