What is happening to this forum??? :(

as above

Didn't find your answer?

Is there a possibility of Accountingweb's admin team to implement some kind of membership that needs to be verified???

Already done 40 hours of work this week, want to relax [by reading accountingweb - don't ask why - certainly not work/life balance here] and all i can see are nonsense questions from all these entrepreneurs which can't be bother to spend £125 for a tax return.

OUCH OMG - only 2 months left for my tax return . I know what i'm going to do - I will go for a foc advice from that lot on the accountingweb!

We don't have mug written across our heads...

Annoys the hell out of me but then I get grief when I point freeloading chancers in the direction of paid professional advice.

Said before, I assume sift report to their advertisers the large number of new members joining each day. The fact that most never resurface after day 1, and certainly never ever make a contribution to the site, seems not to matter.

Look back a couple of years and many knowledgeable regular posters have disappeared.

We do, but it is on the back of our heads where we cannot see it.

It’s been a slippery slope since Sift decided to downgrade the whole site a couple of years ago.
As above a lot of wisdom departed.
Sift seem to be somewhere between being guilty of professional negligence and committing suicide very slowly.
Shame.

I too like to read Any Answers whilst I have lunch (also no work life balance) and have to say the technical level has dropped generally, which is making it less and less useful reading :-(
With good respondents dropping out it feels like the sell by date is fast approaching

I tend to visit the Aweb forum much, much, less than I used to.
The site seems to reflect a general deterioration in society (something for nothing mentality, generally thankless and, oh my, oh my, demonstrations of extremely poor skills, in English grammar).
From what I can see, many of the skilled contributors have; largely been overlooked and cleared off.
It used to be a site that was loved and cared for and, people used to like to "call in". Regretfully, the American influence seems to have swamped all the good intentions.
And, finally, there's some contributors who have an unfounded high opinion of themselves.

This isn't a new development. The site is going the way that those in charge are leading it. One can only assume that they are happy with the results.

Those with the power to halt the decline appear to have engaged Hans Christian Andersen's weavers to develop the forum we now use. Either that or they accept it's going to the dogs and are unwilling to admit that almost every decision they've made over the last two years has been the wrong one. Certainly they've been told about it often enough.

Portia's ejection means I am probably going to have to remove "reading Accountingweb" from my CPD roster.

Don't fret, like in Dr Who he regenerates.

And like in Doctor Who is gender fluid, unless George was short for Georgina.
(Also unsure about applying a gender to Vile)
But does seem to mirror the ability to get into trouble whilst being where the authorities don't want them to be, all whilst conspicuously demonstrating advanced knowledge.

If I could be a*sed, I would count how many questions each week come from the one-off freeloaders like this gem:

Since we don't have engagements with any of the freeloaders, why don't we just give them incorrect advice?

Already happens. If that seems harsh, you'll allow me the adjective "inappropriate" advice instead.
