What is it like to work at BDO (Manchester) ?

day-to-day life at BDO.....what is it like?

Hello guys. Just wondering if anyone could put me in the picture as to what it is like working at BDO Manchester Office, or indeed for any "top 10" firm. Thanks

You could probably write a book on the subject.

In any event, one firm may be different from another; one department may be different from another.

What do you mean by "what it is like"? Salary levels, variety of work, variety of clients ...?

I know nothing about BDO, but I imagine its something like this:

Well at 8.30 they all roll up one trouser leg and sing the corporate sone
At 9.00 they start offshoring client monies
At 9.50 they assist their clients in evading some taxes for an eye watering sum, safe in the knowledge they will need to pay an even bigger sum once HMRC catches up with the scheme.
At 10.15 the boss sexually harresses the juniors (as a modern firm, its both genders getting felt up)
At 10.34, its cake time. THe juniors go on a bun run.

At 8.30pm the junior are allowed home to study
9.15pm the serious stuff happens
10pm, the roll back down the trousers and head home, only to be disturbed by their bosses ringing all night to check their life/work balance.

Classic, you had me LOL (you should be a comedy writer).

Takes me back to my training days 20 years ago.

Hello, thanks for the responses so far. When I ask "what is it like" I'm looking to find out about the work culture and what a typical day looks like for a senior manager and partner level.

Also what does a typical BDO client look like? Personal, LTD/PLC?!

Every day's different really. The days are short and the lunches are long. There's always somebody selling spice in reception.

Never seen any of the clients. We can't get to them and they can't get to us, on account of Northern Rail being so frigging useless.

Pay's [***], and I'm convinced they've been pumping anthrax through the air con.

As you are a pig I'm pretty sure you will be fine, Anthrax does cows in doesn't it?

Wait, what does it do to ducks...?

Nothing that a nice orange sauce can't mask.

The big question which everyone has ignored, is "is it a City or United office?"

How much do BDO fees compare to other firms? e.g. tax return (personal or ltd company), auditing etc
