What needs to be disclosed on the estate return?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

I haven't dealt with an estate in years.

I have an estate which just has one rental property in it and the rental income has been disclosed on the estate return since death.

The solicitor has advised that the asset was transferred to the beneficiary on 7 March 2018.    Therefore, I have disclosed rental income from 6 April 2017 to 6 March 2018 on the estate return, and rental income from 7 March 2018 to 5 April 2018 on the personal return.

This is all I have done so far and entered a date on the estate return to say the period of admin ended on 7 March 2018.

I am at a loss as to whether I need to do anything else......do I need to show the property transfer to the beneficiary on the tax return?  Obviously income has accumulated via the rental income in the bank account, and this will be distributed to the beneficiary.  Should there be an R185 for this from the solicitor and this shown on the beneficiaries tax return.

Sorry to sound stupid but I know estates are a complex area.  I would be grateful for any help.

Many thanks
