What rates are charged for bookkeeping?

I am interested in rates for the Bedfordshire, Huntingdonshire area.

Didn't find your answer?

Search AccountingWEB

I am setting up a new business and would appreciate rates guidance.  I have a great many bookkeeping skills and over 30 years experience.

Who knows? How big are the clients? What is their turnover? How many receipts, invoices, bank transactions will you be processing each month? No one can answer your question because we have no idea of the size of your clients.

I am in very initial stages and have meetings with prospective clients and will know more of size in a few days. Would you suggest the turnover be influential to my charges?

Depends what you’ll be doing - in Manchester you can pay anything from £18/hr to £40/hr, if you’re including mgmt accounts.

How much do you want to earn per hour?

Once you know that, how many hours will it take you per month/quarter per client? This can be tricky but with 30 years experience you should be able to figure out a rough idea based on number of transactions/invoices.

Once you know that you know how much you need to charge, then you just have to find some businesses to pay it. If you can't find any then your business maybe isn't viable, if you find too many then put your prices up.
