Has anyone made a decision of what software or app to reccomend to clients for making tax digital for SElf Assessment?
I have looked at many diffrent providers and as most of my clients are sole traders I am thinking of recommending the Coconut APP. This is a mobile app and can work with their personal bank account so no need for a seperate one as with Quickbooks. Is anyone currently using this and what is your view?
Thank you

Did you actually start going through this person's old posts to find something on them? Maybe we are in a court room
Yes, but not in as creepy a fashion as that might indicate!
Whenever I'm responding to someone with whom I've not 'conversed' before, I first take a quick look (typically less than a minute) to look at their profile + the list of any previous posts (it gives me a flavour of their role and areas of interest).
In this particular case at the very top of the list (i.e. most recent) was one on a very similar topic, so I was curious to see what had changed and read the thread.
Thus my comment/question ... hardly forensic or court room behaviour :=)
Hey Everyone, I'm Sam the CEO of Coconut. Great to see the debate and thanks for the recommendations.
The type of sole trader clients we're focusing on are the ones that might be tech-resistant, very busy or perhaps muddle business and personal. This is where our app works best.
We're also launching a new income streams feature which we'll announce more about in due course, but as a Chartered Accountant turned tech enthusiast, I'm really excited to share it.
For accountants and bookkeepers, we've built a really efficient workflow to gather, organise and prepare accounting information for filing. Regardless of MTD ITSA, we help to make working with sole traders really efficient.
Very happy to demo if you're looking around for this kind of software, even if you're just interested in seeing what's out there.
Also happy to share any insights into MTD ITSA, sole traders or chat about general accounting tech.
Have a great weekend.
Sam
p.s. I've noted the comment about the challenge of finding who's behind Coconut and our legal entity, so we're going to make a much clearer page with that on next week. Thanks for the feedback.
