Where do chartered bodies file their accounts?

They don't appear to be shown at Companies House - so where do they go!?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

We have a client who is looking to supply a new customer - when they have performed their usual checks on thc company's background etc they were unable to find any accounts at Companies House.  It turns out that the potential new customer is a chartered body and, as such, accounts are NOT filed at Companies House.  My question is, surely these companies still have to prepare some accounts - where do they get filed and are they freely available in the public domain?

Thanks in advance

Are you sure it is a company and not a partnership?

I would have thought that they’d be in their website.

I believe they are governed and report to the Privy Council

Have you checked it is not a registered charity?

I have found a similar issue with Industrial and Provident Societies - their accounts are not readily available on the web so far as I know.

Try the Mutuals Public Register.
