Where has Any Answers gone?

Didn't find your answer?

Hit refresh this morning ... and all of Any Answers immediately shrank to zero (like the blinds being drawn vertically) and disappeared (without the page actually closing) ... and no amount of closing/re-opening the site makes any difference!

All I can see is everything down to the Filter by category / Latest etc options ... and then straight to the Footer (Most read this week etc section).  Everything in between (i.e. Any Answers) has vanished!

Anyone else got the same problem, or indeed a solution?  And if the latter, please DM as by definition I can't see any Answers!

Thanks ... that prevents the incipient seeds of paranoia that were beginning to enter my thoughts (as it's not just me then)!

Strangely I've realised that I CAN read/reply to a thread on Any Answers ... as long as I already have that thread open in my browser (which in this instance is the case because I didn't close the window after originally posting).
What I CAN'T do is see the list of Any Answers - and so cannot see any threads that are not *already* open in my browser!

If only Sift could arrange these malfunctions for a warmer day I could instead do some gardening ...

Yes still missing and now the browser (Firefox) is not formatting the information that is showing properly.

Yet another example as to why we should not put too much expectation into technology (MTD and all the other HMRC systems that don't work properly). SIFT are going to be many times better at managing their IT that HMRC, yet they have glitches as well.

Sorry about those technical issues. Our tech team managed to solve the problem as soon as they were alerted but this meant the site was temporarily offline.

Thanks ... are you providing (unlike HMRC) any hint as to the nature of the glitch?

BTW if you're talking to the boffins, you might want to ask them to take a look at the post from Crouchy (ATED - Is a return required?) posted on 25th Apr 2024 10:41
Nothing contentious about the post (probably) but at the moment we'll never know because it's 'link' is corrupted - so selecting it opens a completely unrelated ATED thread.
Poor old Crouchy is probably wondering why everyone's ignoring the post!

I'll see what I can find out on Monday.

Thanks for flagging the ATED post. Now, that is strange. I've not come across that one before.

BTW was there ever anything to report from the various group considerations into upgrading the technological capabilities of the basic software used by the forum?

I'm not one for radical overhauls (so no interest in things that would make it feel like some glitzy plaything), but ... just a smidgen of control for the writer over font sizes/bold/italics/underscore/line-feeds/para format/bullet-points etc without having to break into HTML) would be nice.

And as a nod to our frivolous side ... emojis?
Or my favourite, a soundtrack option ('click here' for appropriate background - in this case I'd have accompanied my original question with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH6HkQd_y4o ) without having to leave the page.

I had the same, it happened last week as well, there is a thread about it.

I wondered if they had been hacked.

Ah, must have missed the previous occasion (unlike the accusations bandied about by some short-fused newbies, I don't spend all day stalking these corridors)!

Albeit you have the patience of a saint!

Some people have no appreciation. Fools.

I just assumed the MTD ITSA pilot had already proved to be such a roaring success that there was no further tax or accounts discussion required, the forum had been closed down as unnecessary, and we could all now retire, safe in the knowledge that the super reliable HMRC system would handle all tax scenarios with 100% accuracy..
