Where is my Library?

Where is my Library?

Didn't find your answer?

Search AccountingWEB

I have just returned from my holidays to the new look AccountingWeb.

I have previously saved lots of useful threads to my library for future reference but now I don't seem to have access to a 'library' function.  Does anyone know if this has been removed or if I can access them some other way.

If I had been pre warned I would have printed them off but now it seems it is too late!

I found the 'library' function really useful and will be very disappointed if it has been taken away.

You are not alone

I would also have liked prior warning of this function being removed so that I could at least have noted the individual answers for future searches.

We'll see what we can do

Thank you both for bringing this to our attention. Because of the performance issues that were affecting the site, we moved quite quickly to introduce the new platform and did make some sacrifices along the way. One of those was the library function, which was used by only a small proportion of our members.

Unfortunately, the ones who DID use it were "regulars" like yourselves, and I'm very sorry the decision has inconvenienced you.

I'll see what we can do on two fronts - first I'll go back to the archive for the old site and see if I can extract the pages that you saved. Second, I'll have a word with our tech team to see if they can reinstate the library as part of our next phase of improvements for the site.

I can't promise success on either count, but if you've bothered to comment, we know there will be others who feel the same way and will do what we can to fix the situation.

What a good idea

I had not picked up on the library function, but it does sound to be a really handy way of keeping track of interesting Any Answers.  It would be good if it could be re-introduced.

Fingers crossed

I hope you are able to retrieve these from the archive as I had saved many good posts that I wanted to keep for reference.

Here's hoping there is something in the archive!

I have already raised this with Becky as soon as I noticed the Library had disappeared. I had just spotted this facility this year despite being a member for over 5 years, so there are probably quite a few members who are not aware of it's existence.  Perhaps if it is highlighted as a benefit AWEB may reinstate it (together with our saved posts)!

Becky's suggestion was to bookmark articles into an AWEB folder on your browser which is fine going forward but no good for those articles already saved for reference.

Oh dear!

I also had a few little gems saved. It's a shame if we can't get a link back to them.

Don't do that!

You're welcome Nick, but don't cross your fingers the whole way through your holiday, how will you hold your pint? :)

Have fun.

So annoying

Why just arbitrarily ditch a facility which clearly quite a few people found very valuable without giving us notice and hence a chance to download or print off our tagged articles.

A completely unnecessary annoyance.

Furthermore I feel I have just had one of those 'supermarket experiences' hunting around for 1/2 hour for something that was here the last time !    AGGGGHHHHHHH

The answer from the Tech team is...

...that we'll look at how easy or difficult it would be to migrate the funtionality from the old site to the new one and make a decision from there.

Unfortunately the library was one of the functions that was slowing down the old site so we'll have to see if there's anything that can be done to get around that.

I apologise for not having flagged it up when we changed the site. That was our oversight. As I think I explained in a previous post our stats showed it was used by a tiny amount of people (although point taken about the fact that we didn't actively promote it). However, those people seem to have really loved it and found it beneficial.

I can't make any promises on whether it will or won't be reinstated. We will endevour to keep you better informed about the conclusion and about any other such changes in the future.

If you want us to have a dig around and send you links to the docs you have previously added to your libraries let me/John/Becky know.

Thanks

Jenny

So thrilled

I'm so thrilled we have been able to reclaim these for members, I know it was a big issue for those affected and it's great that our tech team have got them back for you!

Enjoy!

Are you saying that all members have had their libraries restored?  If so, where do I find mine?
