Where to go for the latest Covid-19 information

What are the best places for accurate, up-to-date information on business support measures?

Didn't find your answer?

Like everyone else on AccountingWEB, the editorial team has been chasing our tails and contacting all the sources we know to get definitive, accurate information about all the business support measures being announced.

Our Coronavirus page has been helpful during the past week to pick up useful advice, questions for the government and examples of how the virus is affecting AccountingWEB members, but so much is happening so quickly that it is sometimes difficult to keep up.

To help cut down on confusion and time wasted hunting for clarifications, it seemed like a sensible idea to share useful links we have found and to round up your suggestions for useful resources.

Official sources

Due to constantly changing government responses, the supply of information has been intermittent – you can tell the civil servants are working flat out on these matters by the way it’s all been appearing. Nevertheless, Gov.uk has created a very useful Covid-19 Business support reference page, where you can sign up for daily email updates.

Media monitors

Official documentation can often be released in a haphazard way and focus more on the legislative requirements than on what businesses and their advisers need to do in a particular situation. The business support update page maintained by our colleagues at PracticeWeb is an excellent place to check for daily summaries, but other resources are available too, including:

Other sites to monitor include:

Supplier sites

The big software companies have pulled out the stops too to support their customers. Further details can be found at:

That’s a basic starter pack. Much of the information is coming from the same sources, so there are overlaps and occasional conflicts between what has just been announced and reported measures that have been overtaken by events. What sources have you been relying on? Share them below so we can all benefit from access to the best, most up-to-date information. Many thanks and good luck in the weeks ahead.

Hi John,

I hope you are staying safe at your side. As the government announces changes to processing payroll we are working to release important updates for employers. I can see a lot of questions also on any answers.

Here are some COVID-19 links that will be updated as things change.

And our blog has some useful information also about working remotely.

I hope that helps some Aweb members.

Thanks and take care,

Karen

Thanks for the heads-up, Karen. I've added it to the "Supplier sites" list in the original post.

Hi John

Your Chamber of Commerce is a very good source and if you are a member of the Chamber of Commerce you have access to HR, Legal, Tax, Employer and others.

ICB hub - ICB TV Corvid 19 resources have been helpful, some of the FSB has not been right or more that they could not have made that some interpretations as the government have not made some T and C's clear.
