which period do i usse for the cis claim?

Didn't find your answer?

client is a subbie with profits for an accounting year of 1/9/17-31/8/18 being reported on a self assessment return for 18/19.  Do I claim his CIS relating to the same period or substitute the CIS actually deducted in the 18/19 tax year?

Happy 31/1 everyone.

The latter. Odd as it seems you deduct the tax suffered for the tax year so there is a mismatch if a non fiscal year end. I asked this on here and others agreed if I recall correctly.

Found it: https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-answers/cis-certificates-when-to-inc...

With a cis subbie I'd have shorterend there accounting period to 5th April and run from that. Easy life for me.

This, every time. Saves trying to explain basis periods and overlap relief to the subbie as well!
