complex returns
Tax returns are not complex, but the tax knowledge and experience required to complete them can be and you will only gain this knowledge through practical experience in a accountancy firm and studying for exams. You never stop learning. Putting the figures on the Return is the easy bit.
I agree. Tax returns aren't complex, it's knowing how to treat more complex situations.
Your knowledge will never be complete, there will always be things you've not seen before.
Joining a medium sized firm will give you a good grounding. I found with the small firm I first started at there returns were simply ltd co director with salary and dividends. I joined a bigger firm and I'm dealing with more rental accounts, investment portfolios, REITs, getting a bit more CGT knowledge from higher net worth clients etc.
Experience is golden, there's only so much you can learn from books.
