Windows update and printer problems

Can't connect the printer

Didn't find your answer?

Over the years sometimes after a windows update my printer goes off-line and I have to connect it back up which I have managed each time but after this latest update at the start of the week I am still defeated on what to do.

I have uploaded the latest drivers, uninstalled the printer and reinstalled, used trouble shooter, looked at the microsoft community for guidance, restarted the laptop a few times, tried to connect with usb, tried standard set-up, advance set-up etc but I can't get the printer to recognise my laptop and wireless connection.

Has anyone else rectified this problem as I'm totally puzzled.  I use microsoft edge and my printer is a Canon Maxify - MB5050

Go into Windows Updates and uninstall the updates that have a date after that where the problem started.
Disclaimer: There is a risk that your system will be more vulnerable as a result. Make a note of the KB numbers and see what is in there that could be problematic from that point of view.

Try looking at the system services to see if the printer spool has been disabled. If not, disable it and re enable then try again.
