Work for Uber as a limited company?

As I have a Limited Company with VAT registered already, can I work for Uber under the company name?

Didn't find your answer?

My husband and I have an active limited company with VAT registered already for many years, right now we are not doing much with the company, but would still like to get paid with basic salary from the company (just over £700 each per month). I am doing my own bookkeeping already, so it's no extra work for me.

My question is 'can I sign up to Uber under my company name, so it's the company working for Uber, and money paid into the business account, and I will just get paid monthly by my own company. The reason for this is so the company can still be active and have income even though it's really low. Does Uber work like this? As we are VAT registered, Uber will have to pay us with the VAT also. Not sure if anyone has a similar situation, is it possible? Thanks in advance.

If you want to know what Uber will accept then you really need to speak to them.

If you need advice on your personal and company situation, an accountant would be able to provide the analysis.

Haven't discussed it yet, as we are still trying to work out if this is the way to go.

Have you asked Über ?

It's not an accounting question, is it ?

For the avoidance of doubt - and being blunter than some others - if all your questions relate to what Uber will accept/tolerate, then it is *only* Über who can answer your questions.
You may find other people have opinions on the issues you raise, but you can't make business decisions on that sort of foundation. Ask Über!

The OP should also consider what Uber will do with their business given the tax shocks that have recently been hitting them.

It is fine to plan for the future but not sure I would be shaping my life to work for Uber blindly assuming it will in future be anywhere near its existing mode of operation.
