Working abroad for 2 years and Tax Returns

Going to work abroad for 2 years (India) any tax considerations?

Didn't find your answer?

My son  has been offered a job in India for 2 years starting October 2018 returning September 2020. He will be paid and taxed in India on his work there.

He will be employed in UK until October 2018 and will be employed in UK on his return in September 2020.

He does an annual SATR in UK (he does a bit of freelance jewellery design on top of his employed income).

He does NOT own a house in UK

How will he be taxed in UK in 18/19 and 20/21. Is there any UK tax reporting he will have to do in 19/20.

Are there things he should do with HMRC and forms to fill in re this work abroad?

When he brings the money he has saved in India back to the UK in 2020 are there any tax implications or is it fairly straightforward

It will depend on a few things regarding the tax year 19/20. I advise he sees a tax consultant and pay for professional advice.

Agree. He needs to see an accountant.
