Wrong PAYE coding numbers

Wrong PAYE coding numbers

Didn't find your answer?

In the past two days we've received PAYE coding notices for clients where the code number has been split between two employments, then the two different codes allocated to the same employer, and none to the other employer!
This is the case with two unconnected clients, with the code notices issued on 17 February for one and 25 February for the other.
Is this a common error or are we just unfortunate to have two clients with the same error?

Virtually none of the codes I have received recently have been right.  HMRC can't resist fiddling with them and making incorrect assumptions. However, the most ridiculous one was where they missed off the persoanl allowance completely!

Of the codes ...

Of the codes that I have recently received for clients over the past couple of months I would say that only about 10% are correct (or reasonable). HMRC repeatedly fail to take account of (or choose to ignore ?) information already available to them which should enable them to get the codes right. Such a waste of our time having to get them sorted out over and over again :-(
