Xero Tax

now live

Didn't find your answer?

What do we think?

I haven't had a chance to test it out yet but once the covid19 work dies down I will give it a whirl, I really want to replace taxfiler but not sure it will be for Xero.

Ooo interesting. I have a terrible feeling that the new "features" of Taxfiler will merit an inflation busting price increase this year so this is great news.

Only covers Corp tax and NOT personal tax.

No trusts or partnership either. Not sure what the point is of that.

Agree. Personal tax for me is more important. Corp tax is easy.

Introduced in typical Xero's razzmatazz style. Light on the content introduced.

Maybe it is a start for Xero adding more tax modules at snail's pace. They were too busy with Payroll.

Therefore at somepoint clients will wonder oh what is xero tax and test it then realise then they don't actually need an accountant when it is just click of a couple of buttons. Of course there are other tax considerations but there again some will take a risk and try to save money

Wouldn't those clients have to sign up as Xero Partners before they see any reference to Xero Tax?

I know taxfiler was a steal at £10+ VAT a month, but just got hit with the you need to upgrade to the pro version for £30+ VAT a month. No idea if the 30 limit is different from what it was when I was paying £10 a month but I'm really not happy about it.

It has got to the point where I'd rather spend more and get a better product.

Initial view is that it is quite "clunky" and not appealing to the eye, although it will probably do the job. With just CT included, I will give it a miss. We use a very cost effective combination of Xero for those clients which justify it, Kashflow for a few who don't, and exel for the really small. For tax we use TaxFiler which is a great product, albeit that I am now paying extra for something that is called Practise Manager, but is really not (we use Xero PM whch we get free as Silver partners. For Accounts we stuck with VT. Yes - there is manual data transfer, but it is nevertheless costs effective, and each tool is best for its particular task. We are also reluctant to go for any of the "all in one" offerings, preferring to stay flexible.

Still too early for us as only offers FRS 105 and FRS 102 1A abridged accounts. We've been beta testing for a while now and I'm not interested in personal tax.

The integration is slick and works nicely, although the review/approval features needed some improvement which has recently arrived.

Has potential to replace incumbent software as additional features are added

Tested it it briefly just to have a look, initial view is that looks and feels really clunky didn't like the look and feel, couldn't find things easily, couldn't edit easily, very limited, no personal tax. They got a long way to go before it's gonna be a decent bit of kit. Similar the Xero's stab at payroll, was appalling at the beginning better now, but not sufficient for a professional practice. Wait a a year or two and it may get better, but I doubt it will be good enough
