xl2iXBRL for tagging accounts

Didn't find your answer?

I am looking for a relatively cheap iXBRL tagging service for tagging my micro entity financial statements for Corporation Tax purposes. Preferably Mac friendly.

I have used VT in the past which works really well, but for my modest requirements, it works out a bit pricey and means I have to dust off my Windows laptop once a year.

xl2iXBRL appears to be reasonably priced and their template appears to open OK on my Mac. Just wondered if anyone out there had used them for real.

I have not paid to actually tag a set of accounts, but did try out the spreadsheet last year, largely just out of interest to see what the accounts looked like and how it compared to other software. I am sure the tagging itself would be fine (and you can't actually see it anyway).

It was easy enough to use but the figures took me quite a long time to input as you have to go through all the sheets one by one. Also I don't think you can paste or import values from an existing TB as you can with other products.

Cost-wise, if you need to do more than 1 a month then it works out more expensive than cloud alternatives (which would also work on your Mac).

So probably fine if you are just doing half a dozen sets of accounts a year, or are using the HMRC form (yuk) for most of the others.
