Were you affected by the HMRC system crash?

Didn't find your answer?

We heard from an AccountingWEB.co.uk member this morning that all of HMRC's online servers have crashed.

This is a particular problem for our member, who was just about to file a number of CT returns that fall due today and is worried about incurring several hundred pounds in late filing penalties.

PAYE Online is out, SA Online, VAT Online - you name it & the web service is unavailable and may well be out of action for most of today.

Have you been directly affected by the problem, and is this just a freak occurrence? We've grown used to a better standard of reliability since last year's upgrade work on HMRC's back room servers, but I'm wondering if there is any evidence for a wider underlying malaise.

Any feedback from the frontline would be welcome - and HMRC do pay a lot of attention to AccountingWEB.co.uk users' experiences.

Update, 11.30am - Panic over: We heard back from HMRC that the problem had occurred in the Government Gateway and had extended out to affect HMRC's servers. Once the problem had been diagnosed, it was corrected by 10.30am.
