FAO: BTC users - practice management

FAO: BTC users - practice management

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all,

Bit of a rambling post here...

I've been using BTC for almost 3 months. Now that I've done a fair few personal tax returns and CT600's (short form) I've got the hang of it and it's very quick to use. I am very pleased with the tax modules but I am only just starting to scratch the surface of the Practice Management side of things. What I am trying to do at the moment is setup templates for any recurring letters to clients using the database header. So things like tax questionnaires tailored to my type of clients with a gap for client specific info to be entered. Management rep letters also.

I am still using an excel spreadsheet to manage tasks - I would like to move all tasks on to BTC so it is centralised but I'm not sure it would be quicker or more efficient than excel...

I have started attaching files to clients - so things like PDF scans of discussion notes, but I am not all out using it as a filing system as I'm not sure it is flexible enough for my needs....

...I'm curious to know how far other BTC users are pushing the PM module and whether I'm missing any tricks?

I also do not know what is on their roadmap for development - if Andrew is around it would be useful to perhaps share that side of things with your Aweb users?

As a side topic perhaps a BTC discussion group would be worth considering?

thanks

RM

The same...

We having been using BTC CT and SA for a number of years and with a growing practice decided to take up PM too.

Have started using it slowly with a few standardised letters but am also still using excel for planning and our word templates for most letters.

I think once we finally get all our limited clients on to it, it should help with knowing when VAT returns are due, etc but am not sure if we are getting full use of it at present.

We'll see for the rest of the year.......

Just in transition

Just entering the process of migrating from Sage Personal Tax to BTC and from a bespoke Access database to PM.  So I'm definitely up for a discussion group.  What I'd quite like is for someone who knows the software backwards to come and spend a training day with us to get templates, reminders, queries etc set up and to show us the knobbly bits of the software.

Getting the best from PM Solution

Hi Redman,

Thanks for raising this. At BTCSoftware we're keen that our users get to exploit all the features of our products to the fullest extent and this is especially the case with PM Solution. The first thing I'd encourage anyone in this situation to do is to book up an online demo session with our support team for you and/or your team. They will be happy to take you through all the key features on screen and I suggest you first prepare a list of key questions you want to see answered. Thereafter they will welcome as many follow ups as you need.

We are just in the process of moving to a new CRM system and a key aspect of this is the ongoing development of a whole range of help-sheets on these sorts of topics. We'd certainly be interested in peoples' thoughts and expectations on a user forum - in order to ensure we could support it with sufficient resource to make it truly effective.

You are hopefully aware of the [email protected] email route direct to our development team which is where many new product additions come from. The rule is that anything that would be of benefit to a number of users without a total redesign will get included on the list and the more that ask for it the quicker it gets included.

Currently we are nearing completion of a range of enhancements to the reporting element of PM Solution. We are also working on a measure of effort and /or time expended per client as a measure of profitability and a range of enhancements to the associated documents and letters. But continuous improvement will always remain key to what we do.

I hope this is helpful. But please come back to me with anything else. Call me on 0800 612 7650 or email [email protected].

Very best regards

Andrew

@ Andrew

Andrew,

thanks for the feedback - very helpful as always

I am glad to hear the reporting element is being developed further - it would be good to have some kind of development pipeline on the website or somewhere where we can see what is up and coming.

thanks

Hi Redman,

We agree it would be an excellent idea to publish on our website a list of up-coming developments and/or product enhancements. I'm afraid the current schedule means this not possible immediately but we'd like it in place in another couple of months.

You will also soon be seeing a significant enhancement to the FAQ section. This will be in the form of a searchable knowledge base where you will be able to find and download topic or feature -specific help-sheets.

I'd also be happy for more feedback and questions existing or potential users may have.

Regards,

Andrew
