Can anyone from HMRC who reads this please let us know what is going on with the Government Gateway?  According to HMRC's known issues everything is fine and dandy with the service but filing is not working at the moment.

Service availability

The problems are reported on the service availability page.

Unfortunately it is not highlighted and you have to choose the services you are interested in.

Any sensible organisation would report problems on their main page - unless they wanted to hide it!

PAYE filing is not working properly

RTI submissions are not getting an acknowledgement for several hours, as a result of which PAYE software keeps resubmitting the same information, as it thinks HMRC have not received it. HMRC are working on this issue. You may therefore get dozens of acknowledgements of the same information.

Not at all

Moneysoft is not connecting me to the portal at all.

Not a huge issue for me at the moment as the next deadlines are for Friday but I don't have the time to see if it's working every couple of hours or so.

Not working for me either

Quickbooks is not connecting either.  Just called QB support and they said that no one is able to file, including from PAYE Basic Tools.  I have just tried to file one via the basic tools, and although it said it had submitted it, it said the submission was on hold.  Going into the error log, it hasn't submitted it at all - it says 'Submission timed out.  Please try again later.'

The HMRC web site just says that there is a delay in receiving confirmations (which has been going on for months from my experience), nothing about the whole thing being broken!  They could at least be honest when they have a problem to save us wasting our time and that of the software providers.

That could lead you to believe that your submission had been received but not acknowledged.  Leading you to complacency

My FPS has just gone through

Have now received about 10 emails from HMRC but the one I was counting on (via my software) has just gone through.

Bonkers

What is going on?

Keytime emailed us to say there was a problem yesterday.

Rang HMRC to query a corporation tax submission today as the deadline is the 30th June and they told me they had received everything even though Keytime did not give me a valid submission receipt.

I have a dozen tax and corporation tax returns ready for submission at the side of my desk but dare not submit them until the problem is sorted.

Absolute and Digita

both emailed today to let us know that HMRC had said there is a problem with all Live Online filing services, and Digita specified Self Assessment, Corporation Tax and P11ds were not capable of filing at the moment..

P11D
I submitted some P11D's on Sunday these are showing as pending. After a 50 minutes on hold today confirmed a software update us not worked and they have no idea when it will be resolved. Could not confirm if they will be downloaded once the issue has been resolved, suggested that I submit paper returns.

personal tax return

I recently moved to IRIS and was trying to upload my 2nd personal tax return to HMRC last night.

Kept saying Govt Gateway was busy and to try later.  As it was after 5pm couldnt speak to anyone at IRIS and ended up spending a couple of hours looking to see if was doing anything wrong at my end.

Phoned IRIS this morning on a rant to say that their software was rubbish and that it didnt work to find out the issue was with HMRC.

Still not got my acknowledgement that has been submitted.

HMRC seems to be in a bit of a meltdown between not being able to file online, to never being able to get through to their helplines in less than 30 mins to having difficulty logging into clients accounts online through HMRC website, nothing seems to be working as it should.

Using Sage I have a SA return in pending since yesterday morning, not able to file or retrieve it for later.

I note that other software suppliers are advising users of the problems but needless to say useless Sage hasn't said a thing.

I sent them a query about a P11d 20 days ago and despite 3 reminders not a thing apart from the first to say a 3 day turnaround.

Needless to say it is not my decision which software I have to use.

Just filed three FPS that went through OK, after many unsuccessful attempts during the day. Haven't tried to file any other kind of return.

Me too

Just filed an FPS that went though with no noticeable delay and have had the email confirming receipt.  CT returns I attempted to file yesterday are still showing as pending.

Authorisation Code
I entered an SA authorisation code on Monday but it has still to appear on my agent list of clients on HMRC portal. There is no service issue noted on HMRC website for this. Is this a related issue? Anyone else noticed this?

Wed 8am

Filed Earlier year update and final EPS successfully and got immediate acknowledgements.

@ dreamcatcher - entered authorisation codes on Monday  PAYE showed on my list yesterday (Tuesday) and VAT appeared this morning. I think they update periodically and have obviously been somewhat preoccupied with the other problems

RTI FPS won't submit

I have been trying to fil my June FPS for a week.  I keep getting 'submission on hold' as it is timing out on the gateway but I have about 15 email confirmations from HMRC.

My client has actually already paid their June PAYE (very nervous about HMRC so always pays well in advance) but now the account is showing as overpaid because I can't submit the FPS.  Deadline for June has now sailed past and I am worried about penalties for late filing despite the fact I can prove I have been trying because of the confirmation emails!!

Does anyone know where I stand on this?  Have been a prior victim of HMRC fining first and asking questions later and don't want a repeat performance!

I have tried the helpdesk but have spent three lots of half an hour hanging on in a queue with no answers and then being cut off....

Confirmation

If you've got a confirmation, print it off.  It's their problem after that.

I had this several years ago with a partnership return.  HMRC said it wasn't received, I said I had a confirmation.  Turned out to be a show-stopper.   I didn't get the apology it merited but I just sent in a paper copy of the print-out and left them to it.
