Sage to stop TAS Payroll

Sage to stop TAS Payroll

Didn't find your answer?

Informed today that TAS Payroll is being withdrawn by 5th April 2013

Have used Sage Payroll in the past and it falls short of what TAS can do, also I worry that the price will rocket after the initial period.

Would be interested in suggestions that can cope with perhaps 80 companies with 1 to 50 employees each.

I look forward to your suggestions

Depends on how you want this to work ...

John

There are some 'big' choices to make.

Do you want a local PC based application or a cloud/web based solution?Do you need multiple-users to be operating the payroll?Do you want employees to be able to access the payroll, eg to print payslips, P60s, etc, (self-service)?Do you need to collect time-sheet information to flow through to Gross pay

The answers to these high-level requirements will perhaps guide your choices.

Captain

I think you will find Moneysoft will more than meet your needs, with a big saving in costs.

Look no further than Moneysoft

Payroll Manager 100 would seem to be the version that meets your needs.

I see Sage is at it again!

*   Buys up good software.

*   Re-writes it with bloatware and charges more.

*   Charges more and customises to tie you in - repeat ad lib.

*   Once "customers" well and truly tied in, announces software being dis-continued and transfers you to a Sage product.

This has happened SO many times - and not only Sage is at it. Now is the time to jump ship and move to ANYTHING but Sage.

As others have said - Moneysoft is excellent. Even my dimmest clients can use it!!

A terrifying thought...

What will happen if Sage buys Moneysoft?

A terrifying thought indeed and certainly one of my worst nightmares.

What about TAS Books?

Sage bought TAS years ago, but to everyone's amazement, has always kept it going as a separate brand.  TAS Books is much better book-keeping software than Sage 50 because you can change transactions which you have entered, drill down in reports and display several years on the same report.  At least, if Sage withdraw TAS Books, we can carry on using the last version we have as it does not have to be updated every year like payroll.

Whilst Moneysoft's  Payroll

Whilst Moneysoft's  Payroll manager appears very good for single users, does anyone have a recommendation  for multi -user payroll  ?

Multi-user

It depends what you mean by "multi-user".  Moneysoft will not allow more than one user into a company at the same time, but different users can work on different companies.

I too am a TAS Payroll user (and TAS Books)

I have been offered Sage Payroll as a replacement.

The reason that TAS give for this decision is the introduction of RTI by HMRC.

Are the other programs suggested ready for RTI?

Readiness for RTI

Moneysoft is certainly RTI ready - in fact I already have two clients in the trial.

Should I change to Moneysoft Book-keeping?

That's good but I have TAS Books and payroll as Accountants Club package.

I don't want to spend more. Would I be advised to use the moneysoft accounting package instead of TAS?

Is the moneysoft accounting package as good as TAS?

Moneysoft

I moved to Moneysoft from TAS, but it was quite a few years ago, so I can't give you comparisons. However I moved for a reason so I obviously found it better!

Moneysoft is easy to use, and support is responsive. And it costs £112 per year for payrolls up to 100 employees, and as many of them as you want.

Money soft book-keeping and payroll

Do you use both Money Manager and Payroll?

Do they have an automatic link?

Do you know is CIS 300 Returns are possible online through the software?

What is the ouput like from Money Manager? eg TB P&L BS in PDF CSV Excel

Can I get PDFs of payslips etc?

Thanks for any further comments you would be kind enough to make.

Moneysoft
I don't use Money Manager but I know payroll can post directly to it.

Payroll can output any report including payslips direct to PDF. Also any report can be sent to the clipboard in a format that pastes very nicely into Excel, or indeed Open/ Libre Office.

All HMRC filing works well including RTI with full access to the XML submission and the confirmation strings.

Unbeatable IMHO

I use both Money manager and payroll manager. They do link but I prefer to post wages separately.

I've used money manager for the last 20 years and it is brilliant. Data entry is quick and easy and reports are extremely flexible. It works as a complete accounting system, but is especially good for incomplete records, just post everything you have, then fill in the gaps. Entries can be overwritten if they need correction.

The old version (before Windows 7) had a macro facility, which made recurring data entry, and other alterations, extremely quick.

However the new version, because of windows 7, doesn't have this macro feature which, with certain clients, is a drawback. I believe that only the new windows 7 version is for sale now. The old version does not have this full functionality even in xp mode.

I have to say that the clients I have introduced to money manager, even with no bookkeeping background, have taken to it easily, and their entries are then easily amended if need be.

Reports can be printed to PDF or exported to excel. Entries are easily imported from csv or qif (e.g. bank statements)

There was an additional module called office manager which incorporated a client database and enabled client invoicing, statements, and purchase remittance advices. Unfortunately this is not available on money manager 7. Similarly the final accounts module is not yet available on money manager 7.

Having used the best IMO, if little known/appreciated, accounting program I’m sorry to say that with the advent of windows 7 its usefulness is greatly diminished.

Even having been partly negative so far I have to say that it is too useful to abandon and I won’t be looking for alternative software. You can download a trial to see if it fits with your way of working.

TAS payroll to Moneysoft

Euan is the one to follow here. She is talking a lot of sense

We do payroll for over 200 companies, mainly one/two man bands.  We chose TAS payroll years ago because it followed the logic of TAS books which is the best book keeping system ever and is unbeatable.  Its almost 100% keyboard and very very fast and flexible.  How many programs will give you four years P&L in rows?  Anyway I digress!

We got fed up with having a seperate system for P11d`s so changed to Moneysoft in June.  It is an amazing program.  The reports are so clear and presentable.  you can email the payslips and employers summary from within the program in seconds.  Its flexible, easy to understand and it has the P11d built in!!!

We have it networked for two users at no extra cost.  Talking of which its a fifth the cost of TAS payroll

I would not hesitate in recommending Moneysoft, VT accounts production, Taxcalc and TAS books.
