As part of this year’s AccountingWEB community awards, our Any Answers sponsor Tolleys is offering a prize for the best technical thread of 2012.

As sponsors of the Any Answers area, our good friends at Tolley would like to offer the lucky winner of the Best Technical Thread of the Year the choice of any book* from their extensive catalogue of tax and accountancy books, including the legislation, annuals and tax planning range.

Members have already been considering the contenders in Any Answers, with a strong nomination from George Atazdeer for a query in April from TROGGY about Alphabet shares for directors. Member alanrowson1 congratulated all the contributors and commented, “This has been one of the more interesting and informative reads I've seen on AccountingWEB for a while.”

We’ve gone back over the thousands of queries posted this year to dig out some of the more popular technical threads and came up with the following selection:

The prize hasn’t been awarded yet, and we’d like to ensure we haven’t missed any other gems. If you think any of the options above deserve the prize, let us know now by commenting below - or suggest your own nomination for the prize.

The prize will go to the person who posted the original question and the winner will be announced on Friday in our final pre-Christmas bulletin. As with all of AccountingWEB’s community awards this year, we will base the accolades primarily on community feedback, but the editor’s choice is final.

As well as turning to Any Answers for help during self assessment season, also keep an eye on the TolleyGuidance self assessment support page, where our sponsor will continue posting technical commentaries on key personal tax matters.

*This offer covers one title published by Tolley and LexisNexis in book format but excludes the encyclopedic works which are printed in loose leaf format. If the winner selects the Yellow or Orange Tax Handbooks (direct and indirect legislation respectively) they will receive the full set of their choice of either Yellow or Orange.
