In what has become an annual tradition on AccountingWEB, Sage is once again be hosting its Self Assessment Surgery from 19-30 January - with a new twist that will benefit AccountingWEB members.

On hand to answer your self assessment queries will be tax lecturer Rebecca Benneyworth. For the first eight days, the surgery is for Sage Taxation customers only. But for the final two working days of self assessment season, it will be opened to all AccountingWEB members.

The surgery is a free service Sage provides to supplement its normal product support, so tax advisers who encounter technical rather than technological snags can turn to an expert for quick answers.

For anything to do with completing or filing tax returns for your clients, Rebecca will be available during office hours to provide a little extra support. Sage Taxation customers who want to gain access to Rebecca’s SA surgery should register here.

Even if you’re not a Sage Taxation customer, you can still follow the conversation on AccountingWEB during the first week and a half at the bottom of this page. We will feed through queries posted on this page for Rebecca to consider once she's dealt with the Sage customer queries.

For more self assessment support videos, technical tips and ‘how to’ guides, visit www.sage-exchange.com/taxation.

5% late payment surcharge
Rebecca,
If I amend a 2012/2013 tax return to make an election under s169R TGGA and an additional tax liability is therefore due, as the liability relates to 2012/2013 and was as a result due for payment on 31 January 2014, will 2 x 5% late payment surcharge be due?
