The end of 2014 is fast approaching, and AccountingWEB has once again enjoyed a varied, exciting and productive year. From hosting our first ever Conference to ramping up our coverage of important topics such as auto enrolment, we've really enjoyed the challenge of the last 12 months.
Of course, what has made this year so great for us, is you - our intelligent and active community.
So this year, as with every year, we are restarting our Community Awards programme, which is kindly sponsored by Clear Books Pro.
There are eight categories this year, including four that you, the members, will nominate others and vote for:
And four more that we, the AccountingWEB editorial team, will decide:
We will be asking for nominations for the first four categories on Any Answers starting this week. Once we have a few names nominated from the community, we will then put a poll on the page which members can use to vote for their preferred choice.
To keep it fair, we're asking for just one name each.
There are prizes for the winners, which will be announced before Christmas.
While not everyone can win, all and any of our members who contribute to making AccountingWEB the online community it is today are hugely appreciated and welcomed by everyone here at AccountingWEB.
Many thanks for reading and participating - and get voting!
PS - if you want to take a look at last years' winners - see here.

Firstly - where is the category 'superhero who's saved the most planets'? (That's me by the way, I've not seen any other superheroes round here who've saved an entire planet)
Secondly - isn't 'Members' member of the year' slightly discriminatory in that it's open only to men? That's before we even consider how you were planning on judging it! Are you looking for pictures, measurements, personal recommendations from clients....???? Quite frankly I'm shocked!
Naked accountants
I did post for the, sadly unreleased, naked accountant calendar, but the shots were carefully posed to prevent certain features showing. I do still have digital copies of the two poses I did though.
What are the prizes up for grabs for the winners? I look forward to seeing the polls being posted.
Prizes?
A signed copy of the naked accountant calendar surely?! It seems only appropriate.
Is the mention of digital copies of your poses a promise or a threat?!!
Vote-grabbing technique?
Could be either. My wife is keen, but most people seem to view it as a threat. Which approach do you think would garner more votes if I make it to the poll stage? How is "most thanked" to be decided this year? As I recall, last year it was thanked posts that were counted (so 2 posts with 1 thanks each would beat a single post with 20 thanks). Caused some minor controversy as I recall, but what would a good awards ceremony be without a bit of controversy.
I especially look forward to the Quotes award. It will be interesting to see what the editorial team come up with for that.
Naked calendar
When will it be out?
Alas
Problems in the final production as I recall. There was talk of the project being revived earlier this year, but the moment had passed.
I fear
I fear he's already had it out!!
That's a shame
They would have made good stocking fillers!
Thanked posts
Will be based on the total number of thanks a member receives this year. I.e. each thank, not each post thanked.
Hope that's clear!
Rachel
Is there not an award for most humorous thread this year or can I retire the undisputed champion.
Glennzy
Not this year unfortunately as we've switched around the categories - we'll be picking out the best thread of the year instead.
