Following AccountingWEB’s overview of alternative finance options for 2012, Robert Lovell looks in more detail at what is on offer and the pros and cons of each technique, starting with crowd funding.

Crowd funding comes top of the list for many small businesses and has seen significant growth and acceptance in the last couple of years.


Since the 2007/8 economic downturn and consequent fall in available bank debt for small firms and start-ups, there’s been a rapid growth in crowd funding platforms that use online technology to connect businesses to new pools of capital.
