I did read this over my partner's shoulder and was struck how ill-informed, wrong and scare-mongering the whole piece was. A floated idea without explanation of how things will work at the margins does not equate to even a white paper, let alone an election commitment. There is an internal logic in the idea. There is a daftness in the fact that pensioners get £100/week that's then topped up to £132 by a whole series of forms and processes, and it penalises those who have contributed to a small additional £50/week private pension.
The system needs tinkering - that's what the whole thing is about.
