Please accept our apologies. We have not been able to bring you recent episodes of First Enders.

We are involved in a bitter writer’s strike. We are doing our best to resolve the dispute amicably so that normal service can resume asap.

We understand the writer is being offered a better deal with a boutique channel. Some of you know the channel we mean. It is firsttab.co.uk. From reviewing the audience figures of the said channel, we cannot see any benefits of that channel over ours.

Frankly we have been surprised with our viewing rate of such mundane matters about day to day life. First Enders offers nothing technical, analytical or thought provoking. Yet we see the viewing rate is on the rise. We fail to understand why such interest in the mundane.

We will let you know as soon as we are able to whether First Enders will be back on our channel.

Self deprecating humour

This was my attempt at self-deprecating humour. It did not work with 8 people at the time of drafting this post.

I thought I will use a less boring way to say, I am taking a break from blogging. For some reason for the past few days, the need for me  to blog is no longer there. Normally, I am itching to put my thoughts in writing.

Maybe, I will no longer have regular posts My Day and other blogs and like others just blog as and when.

I will wait and see.

So your stopping blogging

my writing another blog - I like your style. Were you at the Practice Excellence event yesterday. As there are 2 people I have always wanted to meet, one was Nelson Mendela and the other was Firsttab. I was disappointed I didn't see you there.

Practice Excellence Conference (PEC)

Thanks for all the supportive comments. I was pleased to read them.

My experience of attending business improvement events has proved:

1) Most, if not all, the stuff I know already through reading AW and reading outside AW. I come out motivated and but my plans and the way I want to go has not changed. Despite the fact, the conference has a particular theme. This year's theme of  PEC was advisory services (?).

2) I more or less know what the presenters will say and how they will say it. At the risk of sounding big-headed, there is nothing new. It is mainly recycled ideas said in a different way.

3) In case I missed anything, I will be able to catch up through AW articles and AW's YouTube channel.

4) The aspect I like is meeting people. It would have been great to meet you Glennzy. Of course meeting down to earth Peter is always a pleasure.

I saw the PEC agenda and I thought the whole morning was not for me. The breakout sessions sounded good because of exchange of ideas with other accountants (some bug in system cannot get rid of this!).

What was your experience of PEC?

I love blogging because I feel I have a voice. Further, it helps me to put my thoughts and feelings in writing. For some reason for the past few days, the activity that I look forward to became a chore. So I thought best to stop. I think this a short term. Already I am feeling a little motivated by reading ming_the_reasonable  and Glennzy's comments.  How vain am I!

Sophisticated Peter?

FT, I agree with what you say about these conferences.

I suppose I look at it as a day away from work with a good excuse.

I liked the seminar with Mark Ryan. He was talking at the front when a photographer walked into the room. Mark stopped and pointed at the photographer and said: "That's the guy we were talking about. That's what he looks like".

It made me laugh.

Like Peter

I enjoyed the day out away from the office and I do enjoy the networking with other people in same boat as myself. The keynotes were very good and the break away rooms also a good idea. I didnt coming away brimming with ideas, but more of confirmation that I am heading in the right direction. Its always a good opportunity to see the folks from AWEB who are decent crack it has to be said. The food at the event was also cracking.
