Hello folks. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I have just returned back to work after 3 years.
I went through my client numbers. I was shocked. They have been significant client losses during my absence. The reasons, I think, could be categorised as follows:
• Business failures/closures
• Clients can no longer afford to pay the fees
• Our service did not meet the required standard (it happens).
• Found a better accountant who will save them more tax
On the positive side, I still have a practice and I am not making a loss.
Google ranking
I have not reviewed my local google ranking. I am avoiding this, in order not to face reality on this front. I will review it in a few days' time. I have no doubt, that my local ranking has been relegated from Page 1 to page xxx.
Control
I love being a practice owner. It is because, even as a micro practice owner (now), it enables me to work on areas that I like and I am able to add value - practice growth.
Besides, I am no longer employable. I am too used to being in control of what I do. I do not need to seek permission from some incompetent manager with an inflated ego.
Out of Date and Retirement
I think I am out of date on the little SEO Google knowledge I had. I can only improve from here.
One of the advantages of our profession is age is not a barrier. As long as I can delegate the day-to-day (it bores me) and it remains viable from my health and financial perspective, I am here to stay. I am not the retirement type. HMRC changes do not faze me. They never have.
