Debits and credits could be thrown into turmoil following government ruling

I thought it was 1st April when I read today's Telegraph but after checking the date a shiver ran down my spine. The "government" , whatever and whoever that is in reality, has decided that the terms "husband" and "wife" can be applied to either gender . If they can overturn this what hope is there for debit and credit as we beancounters know them ?

Will debits now be by the door and credits by the window ? Or could the indiviual be left to decide which side they fancy them on ?

You would think they government would spend more time on fixing the economy rather than wasting time on crap like this.

Now I'm confused

How do I jumpstart my car, now that positive and negative are presumably freely interchangeable?

On the ball there Telegraph

Not sure why the government would be 'officialising' this, why the Telegraph would think this was news and what the fuss is about it.  Within most social situations, one half of a lesbian couple refers to the her other half as her wife and between two blokes, it's usually "my husband".  It's pompous to say spouse and ambiguous to say partner.  But God knows why this needs to be officially mandated.

Missing the point

The point here is not about whether people of the same gender can be *married* , that is a debate for another blog, but the fact that established convention that has and does serve the world well, is being tinkered with in the name of political correctness.

People who are shacked up and want to fantasise that they are *married* , like a pair of kindergarten toddlers do, can refer to their partner as whatever the want but please don't start wrecking normal usage of words for the rest of us

A husband is a man and a wife is a woman . A debit is an asset and a credit is a liability !

And other thing . . .

The courts have recently dealt with a case of rape in which the female complainant was OK with what had been happening until her boyfriend Scott confessed that he was actually a girl called Justine.

Oh the times they are a changing . . .

Signifcant other

Actually, it is most apt to describe certain aspects of the liabilities masquerading as debits on

the balance sheets of  our banks . Confusion sorted !
