It’s here - and you’ve had a two-week extension, so we really mean it this time - the deadline for the Accounting Excellence Awards is TONIGHT. That’s Friday 28th at midnight.

Accounting Excellence is about promoting the very best of the profession, celebrating success, ambition, and drive and giving those who are shortlisted the pedestal they deserve.

We know, because finalists tell us, that being shortlisted or winning an Accounting Excellence Award – having been impartially judged by experts in their respective fields – will help you win new business and help push your career to the next level.

Are you AccountingWEB’s next podcast guest, our new columnist, or next star speaker at the Festival of Accounting and Bookkeeping (FAB), or even a future judge? Our awards entrants are often the editorial team’s first port of call for fresh new voices and talent - but don’t worry if that’s not your bag either, it’s not obligatory!

Take a look at our newer categories

I’d particularly like to highlight some of our newer categories, which we introduced last year to reflect the full scope of Accounting Excellence in this fast-moving profession.

Our International Firm of the Year award recognises the important international work many firms undertake for their clients, while our DEI Pride award gives an opportunity to highlight how others can improve access routes into the profession. And, of course, there are our team awards across audit, tax and payroll.

Whether demonstrating impressive growth through innovative means, pioneering the use of technology, outstanding individual achievements, or firms striving to go the extra mile for their teams and clients, our awards have evolved to broaden recognition for the great work you do.

Give your entry the best possible chance

Want to enter but need inspiration on how to make your entry stand out?

In one of our latest episodes of the No Accounting for Taste podcast, about 16.33 minutes in, we discuss the awards and offer some advice on what the judges are looking for in this year’s entries.

We say this every year - in fact, I went through every award entry question for every category this year, adding this line to remind everyone who is entering to BE SPECIFIC.

Give examples, back up what you say with evidence and data points and hone in on one point of difference. There just isn’t space to tell us about ALL the wonderful things you are doing in a meaningful way. So choose the one or two things, pertinent to your category, that really stand out to you and give us the detail on that. What did you change or do differently, why did it need to change, what was the impact and what are your next steps?

The awards are free to enter but the judging process is rigorous, so if you are going to take the time to enter please do think about how you tell your story and how you can make your entry the best it can be to maximise your chances of being shortlisted. We have some further guidance videos here, and a downloadable PDF entry toolkit here, with all the info you will need on every category.

Use the above sources to guide and inspire you, but then get writing. Remember, we want to hear about your story. Finally, I wish everyone who makes the effort to enter the very best of luck—I hope to see you on the big night itself in October.
