Roaring like a lion

Done it! I have eventually swallowed my pride and given in to the constant prompting from my MobileMe account that I need to upgrade my MacBook from OS X Snow Leopard version to Lion (soon to be superseded by Mountain Lion, apparently, so another £20 going to Apple by the end of the year!).

However, unlike Windows upgrades which always seem to be doomed to failure, my Apple devices seem to thrive on operating system upgrades. The only irritant was that the new Apple OS is only available as a download - well, it was although I see you can pay double to get it on a memory stick now. No wonder, I had to leave my MacBook to download it overnight, it looks like it took over eight hours, even after I unplugged my wireless router and plugged the laptop directly into my cable modem to speed up the Internet connection!

But to be fair to Apple, the install went through seamlessly once I had downloaded the software. I was then able to convert my MobileMe email, diary, etc to the new iCloud platform and that seems to have worked fine too. My iPhone instantly prompted me to update the settings on that, which it did automatically, and everything seems to be working fine. iPhoto seems to be the only fly in the ointment, my version won't link with iCloud, so guess what - I need to buy yet another upgrade!

I see iPad 3 is now out, so my original iPad 1 is looking a little dated, as is my iPhone 3GS. I fear I may be spending a little more with Apple over the rest of 2012!
