May 31 - I don't mention them often. In fact I try to forget about them as much as I can, but the quarters up so In have to call a shareholder board meeting.
I know it's odd that I work in an SME (tending M, I guess) where the owners are separated from the management, but I can't be alone in doing so. And I wonder what the impact is?
I enjoy not having owners breathing down my neck. I'm happy to see cash go out to them (well, fairly so - I do sometimes wonder whether I wouldn't rather give better pay rises here).
But what are the minuses? Is not knowing what they really think affecting performance? Does having owners around sharpen things? Do I satisfice? If so, how?
I often ask myself these questions and never get answers from anyone - even the Chair.
What's the moral? If in doubt keep asking the questions, I guess.

As the songwriter said...
"I ran out of answers such a long time ago
And I treasure the questions wherever I go"
(Martyn Joseph, Treasure the questions)
In so many fields ...
... there are two great truths.
Your value is in your knowledge of the questions, not in your knowledge of the answers!Your best strategy is to ask, then shut up and listen!
In this instance it is valuable that you know what to ask yourself. Now don't interrupt yourself while you're answering.
