Recognition from outside our industry is hard-won. Only last month our CEO, Tracy Ebdon Poole was shortlisted in the LDC/Telegraph UK’s 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders Awards. This month she’s been shortlisted for the Entrepreneur of the Year category in the Women in IT Awards. This is a global event, held in London, New York, Ireland, Silicon Valley, Singapore, Berlin and Toronto.
The awards celebrate women in technology, showcasing their achievements and identifying new role models. Currently, the percentage of female IT leaders globally remains at 9% – a figure that has changed very little in the past few years, despite one-third of organisations claiming to have diversity initiatives.
She says: “Our values are important to us as a business. We take pride in embracing diversity, working together, continually delivering to our customers and pursuing excellence in everything we do. It’s testament to everyone’s amazing work here that we’re now seen as a pioneering business that’s challenging the big players and making a serious name for ourselves. Thanks goes once again to our wonderful customers who support us by choosing TaxCalc year after year, recommending us to their peers and colleagues. Some 40% of all our new business comes from word of mouth recommendations. So we must be getting it right.”
