FreeAgent, the innovative cloud accounting software provider, has announced the appointment of a new Senior Partnerships Manager to help further expand its influence in the UK small business sector.

The company has recruited Matt Perkins to the new position, who will spearhead FreeAgent’s partnership work with fintech companies and organisations that support small businesses across the country, as well as working with partners across FreeAgent's banking and accountancy channels. In addition, his role will include overseeing the company’s involvement with NatWest’s new Entrepreneur Accelerator programme - the UK’s largest fully-funded business accelerator network.

The appointment marks a second tenure at FreeAgent for Perkins, who previously worked as the company’s Head of SME Engagement from 2012-2016 before taking the role of UK sales and strategic partnerships manager at Receipt Bank.

Kevin McCallum, FreeAgent’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Matt back to FreeAgent as our Senior Partnerships Manager.

“With Open Banking beginning to provide exciting new opportunities for small business software - and with the first wave of Making Tax Digital coming into effect from next year - this is a very important time for FreeAgent. As our ecosystem of fintech services, integrations and partnerships grows, Matt will play a vital role in helping us raise our profile and forge exciting new relationships that will help improve the lives of small business owners throughout the UK.”

“I’m delighted to rejoin FreeAgent and I’m looking forward to my getting stuck into my role as Senior Partnerships Manager,” said Perkins. “This is an exciting time for FreeAgent - and for the fintech sector in general - and I can’t wait to work alongside the rest of the team as we grow the company and expand our influence in the years ahead.”
