The roll-out of Making Tax Digital (MTD) is already underway and the first major phase of the initiative, MTD for VAT, began 1 April 2019.

We’ve built a toolkit to help you communicate the change with your clients, so you can make sure they’re MTD-compliant with minimal fuss.

Download your free toolkit here.

A communications toolkit for your practice

In this toolkit, you’ll find guidance and resources to help you with your marketing and communications strategy, including:

1. Why Xero for Making Tax Digital?

2. Getting your team up to speed

3. Communicating MTD and Xero to your clients

4. Hosting an MTD event

Who does MTD for VAT affect?

Under MTD for VAT, most VAT registered businesses with a turnover above the £85k threshold have to keep digital records and file their VAT returns using compatible software, such as Xero.

What if my clients are already using Xero?

If you’re already using Xero to submit your or your clients’ VAT returns, you don’t need to do anything. Xero’s MTD for VAT software is available on any Xero plan that supports VAT – at no cost.

How about clients that aren’t on Xero yet?

Making Tax Digital presents a significant opportunity to migrate desktop software users to cloud accounting software.

Moving accounts online may be met by some resistance by some clients, but it’s easy to defeat any concerns when you’re armed with the right information.

What do I need to do next?
