Opera 3 facilitates unprecedented business decision making at fire safety storage firm

Northamptonshire, xx October 2012… Jo Bird, an internationally recognised leader in the design and manufacture of lifesaving and fire safety equipment storage, has upgraded its financial software to Opera 3 from Pegasus, an award-winning supplier of accounting, business and payroll software.

The upgrade has transformed business decision making at Jo Bird by providing access to, and analysis of, company information such as debtor lists, profit and loss and stock control.

Jo Bird manufactures cabinets to store fire and safety equipment in order to keep them in good working order.  The firm employs 20 staff from its site in Highbridge, Somerset and exports across the globe, with main customers from various industries including oil and gas and commercial shipping.

The firm has been growing rapidly in recent years and realised that it would need to become more efficient if it is to continue to manage this growth successfully.

Jo Bird has been using Pegasus solutions for over 20 years.  The latest version, Opera 3 appealed to the firm as it offered a more straight forward means of exporting company data into Excel where it could be easily viewed, analysed, manipulated and acted on.

“We have a small and committed workforce and it’s important that they remain happy in their jobs and can cope with the increased sales we are experiencing,” says Guy Atkins, managing director, Jo Bird.  “By providing access to the goldmine of information held on our systems, Opera 3 is helping our teams work more effectively.   For example, we are now better placed to manage debtors, suppliers and stock control levels, and can update customers on their orders more accurately.   Furthermore, Opera 3 gives us a more comprehensive insight into the organisation that wasn’t possible previously, thus empowering us to make more sound business decisions to drive the business forward.”

The upgrade, which occurred with minimal disruption to the business, was managed by Pegasus Partner, AMA, with whom Jo Bird has a 10-year working relationship.
