Accounting and tax practice uses Twinfield to help medical professionals prescribe for the future

Cheshire based Josolyne Medical Services is using Twinfield, Wolters Kluwer’s cloud-based online accounting solution to offer its clients real-time accounting and tax services.

Josolyne Medical Services (associated with Josolyne & Co. which has over 120 years’ experience within the industry) is the first accountancy practice to offer this service to medical professionals. Using Twinfield, Josolyne provides proactive advice on how to maximise income, generate new sources and mitigate tax and pension liabilities.

Nicki Pace, Head of Medical Services and Partner in Josolyne & Co, says: “Medical practices are understandably often short of time due to the nature of the profession, and now want much greater knowledge and exercise of management skills than has been required in recent years. Without an online accounting system, financial reporting can be very time consuming.

“We quickly recognised a trend for accounting in the cloud and, having used CCH Accounts Production software from Wolters Kluwer in the past, it was very easy to integrate with Twinfield. Prior to using the system, we used Sage, but Twinfield seemed to fit the bill.”

Pace continues: “We chose to tailor Twinfield’s online accounting system to be readily used by medical practices, to help save practice managers’ time by automating processes, which in turn ensures that they have the most relevant and reliable data to hand. Online accounting provides us with much better visibility of a client’s accounts, without having to ask them to pull the information together. Data is usually electronic within medical practices; therefore it is much easier to input data. Previously, we would have to chase clients for information by phone and they’d have to email huge PDFs which were often difficult to send.

“Since January 2013, we’ve been using Twinfield to work more collaboratively and closely with our clients who range from hospital consultants to GP Practices, and are able to help with year-end reviews, performance indicators, budgeting and management accounts. Many of our clients are located some distance away from our office; therefore Twinfield enables us to have more regular interaction, in addition to our usual advisory meetings. Fundamentally, we’ve been able to add value to our service.”

Pace concludes: “We’ve also integrated with Twinfield’s partner, Basecone, which allows clients to scan invoices from any location, so that invoices can be processed and then the data can be populated within the system for reference. The ability to scan and automatically populate the system with data is unique to Twinfield. We have a good, professional relationship with the Twinfield team – they’re friendly, listen to our feedback and are very proactive with resolving issues when required.”

Josolyne Medical Services will now look to move further clients across to the system to enable greater collaboration. As the client base expands, the company hopes to explore other reporting and stock applications.

Barbara Kroll, managing director of Twinfield UK, comments: “Josolyne is really taking the lead with online accounting for medical practices – they are using online accounting in a way nobody else is. By designing and setting up reports tailored specifically to the medical industry, they’re able to offer a service that many other accountants just simply couldn’t provide.”
