Understanding UK Government Support
The UK Government has announced various schemes to help businesses overcome the financial challenges of the coronavirus, including:
Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme to reimburse furloughed employees for 80% of wages (up to £2,500 per month) who, due to coronavirus impacts, would otherwise have lost their jobs
Business rates holiday (for specific industries) to provide 1-year relief and help ease the impact of coronavirus
Income Tax and VAT payment deferral to allow businesses to delay Income Tax self-assessment payments from July 2020 to January 2021, and suspend VAT payments between 20th March and 30th June to the end of the tax year
Visit our Coronavirus Hub for a straightforward guide to these schemes, who they’re for and how you can access them. Look out for free daily webinars designed specifically for accountants and bookkeepers, where our expert team can walk you through the details and answer any questions you have about how these schemes can benefit your practice and clients.
