If you didn’t know already, Pandle is built by (and for) accountants. This allows us to gain an insight into the industry and the needs of our clients.

As accountants, our role and industry has changed a lot over the past few years and those changes are not likely to slow down for the future. In order to remain competitive in the industry, we must adapt in line with the expectations and needs of our clients.

This means keeping an eye on the new generation of entrepreneurs who will need accounting services; millennials and Generation Z.

Generation Z are those born between 1995 and 2010. The eldest are in their early twenties but it’s not too soon to prepare for them to enter the business world. Like Millennials, they have grown up among new technology which has shaped them as consumers and as entrepreneurs.

Generation Z mobile use

It’ll come as no surprise that younger generations are more tech-aware and familiar with mobiles and tablets than generations before them.

According to this resource from Think with Google, 78% of all teens now use smartphones, 68% use laptops and 52% use tablets. Of those specifically within the 18-24-year-old group, 87% now use smartphones. This shows a clear rise which looks like it’s only going to continue in years to come.

Buyer behaviour

There’s been a clear shift in buyer behaviour as most teens will now use their smartphones to make online purchases. 53% of teens do this compared to 30% of 18-24-year-olds and interestingly 43% of 25-34-year-olds.

Those websites that don’t function well over mobile may end up losing business as customers go elsewhere for a smoother, faster checkout experience.

What’s this got to do with accounting?

Any business needs to keep up to date with consumer behaviour so that they can ensure they’re meeting the needs and expectations of their customers.

While looking at Generation Z may seem a bit premature, they will soon enough become a generation of entrepreneurs who have different expectations from their accountants.

Businesses that look further to the future will find it easier to adapt to changing market needs and will, therefore, lead the way.

With the drive towards mobiles and tablets, accountancy firms need to make sure they’re prepared. This means ensuring that your website looks good and functions well over both mobile and tablets.

Communicating with clients

A report from last year from technology company LivePerson showed just how much young people rely on phones and apps to communicate in comparison to previous generations. According to the researchers, “the smartphone has truly become an extension of [young people’s] hands.”

In the UK they found 74.4% of millennials and Generation Z interact with each other digitally more so than in the real world.

They found that instant messaging was far more popular than calling. When asked to choose between phoning and using a messaging app, 69.4% said they would choose the messaging app.

What does this mean for client communication?

Perhaps relying on phone calling will put some younger entrepreneurs off. They may prefer the convenience of messaging online and will, therefore, lean towards online-based accountancy firms as opposed to traditional high street firms.

Clients nowadays expect quick responses to their queries meaning a move towards instant messaging, video calling and in-app messaging looks to be the way forward.

Collaboration with clients in Pandle

We know that phones are still the number one method of communication for some people but we’re also aware that some, particularly our younger users are more comfortable with instant messaging.

In-app messaging can be a convenient solution and keeps all correspondence in one place. That’s why we’re currently working on our Messaging Centre which will allow users to message each other directly through the app.

One of our other collaboration tools is Pandle Notes. With this, you can leave notes for your clients and vice versa to remind each other of important information related to specific transactions or uploads. Users will be able to tag each other in notes, review all notes created and search through previous ones easily.

We are also working on Pandle Organiser, a complete business organiser for our users which will include tasks, reminders, a calendar as well as collaboration tools to help your clients keep in touch and on top of their bookkeeping.

Pandle Mobile

Mobile app

This teamed with our newly released mobile app means our users can enjoy the ultimate business finances organiser that fits in a pocket.

Pandle Mobile can save time as users can update their records on the go and won’t have to wait until they’re by a computer, making it perfect for the modern day entrepreneur. Having all your information ready to view at the tap of a button means you can keep your records accurate, fix errors quickly and keep a constant watch on how your business is doing financially.

Partnering options

We are offering Pandle to accountancy firms to help them manage their accounts with ease. You can choose our basic option which lets you use the software to manage accounts and switch seamlessly between them.

Alternatively, our Brandle version allows you to use our software under your own company branding. All mentions of Pandle will be removed and replaced with your own logos. This gives you the benefits of having your own software and helps you to compete in the industry.

For more information on our partner options or simply about Pandle itself, you can take a look at our website or contact us directly via [email protected].
